Kayaking
Kayaking
Kayaking is an exciting way to explore the Preak Tachan River and its tributaries – either by yourself, or with one of our experienced guides.
During your stay at Cardamom Tented Camp you will have the opportunity to visit Preak Tachan Station on a 2.5-hour forest hike (3.1 km) or during a 2-hour kayak journey (4 km) up the Preak Tachan River.
Kayaking can offer amazing opportunities for sightings of rare wildlife, such as the smooth-coated otter, Lutrogale perspicillata. You may even spot rare birds like the night heron; the endangered woolly-necked stork, Ciconia episcopus, or the stunning green peafowl, Pavo muticus. The great hornbill, Buceros bicornis and the Oriental pied hornbill, Anthhacoceros albirostris, can be seen around the camp and along the Preak Tachan River.
As dusk falls after a long day of paddling, look out for the whooping gibbons in the trees along the river bank – it’s an exciting bonus for any kayaker visiting this pristine sanctuary.
